Synopsis The contest unfolded in one day on December 15 in 8 to 10 foot shifting big waves, before the movie and television cameras, and a crowd of 1,000 fans in front of the break at Sunset. This was the contest where Bob McTavish from Australia introduced the V-bottom shorter surfboard. Even though he was having trouble and spinning out at Sunset this was noted as the start of the short board revolution. This version of the film is in black and white.
