Synopsis A documentary film about San Diego's rich history of surfing, beach culture and lifeguarding cultivated by the pioneering Hawaiian legends of George Freeth and Duke Kahanamoku, that continue on through to the present day. The film highlights the inspiring as well as fascinating events that led to the creation of the first municipally funded coastal lifeguarding program, the preservation of coastal access for all that gave birth of the Coastal Preservation Act of 1972 the creation of America's first surfing park, and the 50 plus years of Aloha that has followed since Tourmaline Surf Park's dedication in 1965. The film features, amongst others surf legends, Floyd Smith of the famed Gordon and Smith Surfboards, Skip Frye, Hank Warner, Marshall Malcolm, Mike Hynson from the original Endless Summer, University of San Diego Professor of Anthropology and Archaeologist Jerome Hall. The film is narrated by San Diego radio personality Chris Cantore. At its heart, the film tells the complex story of the dedication to community through the noblest of motives, the public good.
